SuriScope Chrome Extension

Privacy Policy SuriScope

What the extension stores on your device, what it reads from web pages, and what each permission is used for. No data leaves your browser.

Last updated: October 15, 2026

1Introduction

SuriScope is a Chrome extension designed for web quality assurance (QA) professionals. This privacy policy describes the data we process, how we use it, and how we store it.

Affected extension version: 1.0.0 and later

Public URL for this policy: https://www.mrsuricate.com/politique-de-confidentialite-suriscope

2DataCollected

1. Locally Stored Data

SuriScope stores the following data in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local), and nowhere else:

  • Display theme (light/dark), interface language (automatic, French, or English), text size, default layout
  • Color, opacity, and thickness of element highlights; color of freeze mode
  • Selector Copy Format
  • Search history: Up to 100 entries, including the selector, its type (CSS or XPath), the number of results returned, and the URL of the relevant page—URL parameters and the fragment are removed before saving
  • Library of saved selectors: Up to 200 entries (selector, type, label, note, tags), which can be exported and imported in JSON format. No page URLs are included.
  • Status of the Discovery Guide and Tips Already Viewed
  • Hiding the introduction banner Mr Suricate
  • Extension Incident Log (see below)

This data remains exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to an external server.

The search fields you've entered (selector, search text, query in the dataLayer) are saved for the duration of your browser session (chrome.storage.session) so you don't have to retype everything; they are cleared when you close Chrome.

1-A. Incident Log

To help diagnose a problem without having to open the developer tools, SuriScope maintains a local log (up to 200 entries, stored in chrome.storage.local) that includes the date, severity level (error/warning/info), source (extension, page, interface), a stable technical code, and an explanatory message.

2. Analyzed page data

When you use SuriScope on a web page, the extension can read:

  • CSS and XPath selectors for page elements
  • The contents of window.dataLayer (Google Tag Manager events)
  • Network requests to analytics services (Google Analytics 4, GTM, Facebook Pixel, TikTok Analytics, Adobe Analytics)

This data is displayed in the extension's interface and stored only in the session (chrome.storage.session), on a per-tab basis: a maximum of 500 requests (content truncated to 5,000 characters per request, up to 2 MB per tab), which is deleted as soon as the tab is closed and, in any case, when the browser is closed. No page data is transmitted to an external server.

3DataNOT collected

SuriScope never collects:

  • Your personal information (name, email address, mailing address)
  • Data entered into forms on the pages visited
  • Your browsing history (only the URLs of the pages where you perform a search are stored, limited to the last 100 and excluding any URL parameters)
  • Your passwords or usernames
  • Geolocation information
  • Data for advertising or profiling purposes

5Third-Party Services

SuriScope does not use any third-party services: no audience analytics tools, no telemetry, no crash reports, no ad networks, no authentication services, and no content delivery networks. No integrated third-party libraries communicate with the outside world: the built-in selector analysis tools run locally, within your browser.

6Linkto the publisher's website

The extension's footer contains a link that reads "Powered by Mr Suricate " and a closable banner linking to https://www.mrsuricate.com/, the website of SuriScope's publisher. This link is never opened automatically; it opens only if you click on it, in a new tab. No data generated by the extension is included with this navigation. All users start with the same campaign parameters (utm_source=extension, utm_medium=referral, utm_campaign=suriscope), which are appended to the URL to indicate to the publisher’s website that the visit originated from the extension: these parameters are fixed, identical for everyone, contain no personal data or identifiers, and are not used for profiling. The banner can be permanently hidden in Settings (“Promotion Mr Suricate ”).

This webpage is published by a third party as defined by the Chrome Web Store: once opened, this site's privacy policy applies.

No data is stored on a server, and no external retention period applies: nothing leaves your device.

8Data Transmission

SuriScope does not transmit any data to external servers or third parties, and does not make any outgoing network requests: the only requests the extension sends are directed to the page you are inspecting. All data remains exclusively on your device.

The only possible outbound link is the one to the publisher's website described above: it is triggered only when you click it, and does not transmit any data generated by the extension.

Updates come from the Chrome Web Store (managed by Chrome itself) or, for an internal installation, by manually replacing the extension file. The extension does not contact any server to check its version.

To be clear: SuriScope does not sell any data, does not use any data for purposes unrelated to its function (QA analysis of the open page), and does not use any data to assess creditworthiness or grant credit.
